Robert Logan reports on the recent CMiP Course

Robert Logan, SAOS’s newest recruit, took part in the two-day Co-op Management in Practice training course recently. One of our highest rated and most valued training events, the CMiP course gives potential co-op managers of the future an insight into a wide variety of topics, allowing them a greater understanding of the workings of their own and other co-ops.

The delegates heard from Anna Robertson (pictured above right), Jim Booth, and Bob Yuill, all of SAOS, as well guest speakers, Andrew Moir (in one of his last duties as Ringlink Chairman) and Tim Wilson, Chief Executive of Aspatria.

Robert told us: “I thought the CMiP course was a really good immersion into co-op management. There was a great group of people from different co-ops, with varied experiences and backgrounds and that in itself was really useful.  We got great insight into the roles of Chairpersons and CEOs from Andrew Moir of Ringlink and Tim Wilson of Aspatria respectively.  These sessions and their experience and reflections for the group were hugely valuable.  It really gave a flavour of the shared values of co-op people and how happy they were to share their experiences to help others.  Another session I think we all really enjoyed was looking at how we all could build our skills and push ourselves to make more of an impact – it was pretty inspiring stuff! I’d certainly recommend it to anyone looking to develop a career in co-ops.”
